Looking for outstanding gastroenterology care? Visit Michael Weisberg MD
Our experienced and highly trained Plano gastroenterologist, Michael Weisberg MD, provides patient-centered gastroenterology care. He diagnoses and treats patients who have gastrointestinal problems, including abdominal pain, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhea, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome by performing examinations and diagnostic and screening procedures, such as colonoscopy and endoscopy. Dr. Weisberg has provided gastroenterology care for Plano area residents for nearly three decades, and he is a senior practicing physician at Digestive Health Associates of Texas.
Exemplary gastroenterology care from a compassionate and skilled provider
Our Plano gastroenterologist believes that his patients deserve the best care at every appointment. Dr. Weisberg works with a trusted nurse practitioner, which allows patients to be seen quickly. When it comes to procedures, he personally performs them all, whether the problem is large or small.
Dr. Weisberg is dedicated to his patients’ gastroenterology care. He also works outside of his practice to promote patient and healthcare interests.
Committed to preventive care and cancer screening
A colonoscopy is the gold standard of colon cancer screening methods and a vital part of gastroenterology care. Our Plano gastroenterologist urges patients to have a colonoscopy at age 45 unless they have other risk factors. If a patient is African American, has a family history of colon cancer or has Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, he or she will need a colonoscopy at an earlier age.
Patients with acid reflux need to be diagnosed and treated by a board certified gastroenterologist, too. If acid reflux is not treated, it may cause complications that can lead to esophageal cancer.
An advocate for patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
Patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease receive state-of-the-art gastroenterology care from our Plano gastroenterologist. Dr. Weisberg works with the North Texas Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation to raise funds for research and serves as a medical advisor to the organization.
A proponent for patients and medical care
Outside of his practice, Dr. Weisberg writes articles and appears on radio and television. He even gave a TED Talk in 2016 about medical care in the United States. He advocates for patient-centered healthcare.
Our Plano gastroenterologist has another vocation beyond gastroenterology care—he’s a writer. He published his first novel in July 2014. “The Hospitalist” is a story about medicine in the 21st century. Dr. Weisberg’s second novel will be published soon, and he is working on his third book.
