Michael Weisberg MD has been a Plano gastroenterologist for nearly three decades. He is one of the founding members of Digestive Health Associates of Texas. He serves as a board member and is a senior practicing physician. He has also served on various committees at Digestive Health Associates of Texas.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, he earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
For his residency training, our Plano gastroenterologist trained at Baylor College of Medicine. He then completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Michael Weisberg MD is active in the Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis Foundation
Many patients of our Plano gastroenterologist have Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, so Michael Weisberg MD is an active member of the North Texas Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. He also serves on their medical advisory committee.
An active fundraiser for the organization, he and his wife organized one of the biggest fundraisers for the chapter, “A Conversation with …” This annual dinner features conversations with famous area sports personalities.
Dr. Weisberg has actively participated in the “Taking steps” walk to raise money for inflammatory bowel disease research for years. For the last 3 years, his team of volunteers has raised the most money of any doctor’s office for the ‘Taking steps” walk.
In his spare time, Michael Weisberg MD is also a published novelist
Our Plano gastroenterologist has published one novel, “The Hospitalist,” finished a second novel and is beginning a third. He has won first prize in a short story competition for doctors. An active speaker and writer, he has written articles in “Physician’s Practice” and KevinMD.com, and has appeared on television and radio. In 2016, he gave a TED Talk about the art of medicine of the 21st Century.
Family time is important to Michael Weisberg MD. He has been married since 1993. He has a son in medical school, another in college and a daughter who is a senior in high school. He enjoys working out, going to movies and traveling.
